This Japan exclusive book contains some of Yasuo Otsuka's artwork during his time working on the Lupin III series. This includes character sketches, storyboards and full illustrations. The publication is 128 pages in length and is A5 size. It retails for the cheap price of only 2,000 yen ($20 / £12) and is mail-order only!

Otsuka helped translate Monkey Punch's unique visual style to the TV screen. He worked on the original 1969 pilot animation and went on to contribute to the 1971 green jacket series. Otsuka played a very important role on the team, giving Lupin and his gang a stylish look with lots of energy - especially in the facial expressions.

After the green jacket series, Otsuka returned to work on some of the later Shin Lupin episodes. He worked alongside Hayao Miyazaki on various Studio Ghibli films - including the 1979 Lupin feature, The Castle of Cagliostro. Other works include Future Boy Conan, Sherlock Hound and more recently, Lupin III: Elusiveness of the Fog.

Yasuo Otsuka is one of my favourite artists and his work on Lupin III is timeless. There are several art books compiling his work - be sure to check them out.

The Special Edition of Lupin III: Volume 2 releases on October 25th this year!
